Savona is the main city of the "Riviera delle Palme". Tourism represents for Savona a central activity. The Port Authority too is trying to improve the waterfront and the spare-time activities linked to the sea, in order to bring Savona back to its ancient brilliance: already during the XIX century the Riviera delle Palme was a famous seaside resort for tourist, who used to call it "the nicest spot in the world".
